ABOUT THE CFE-Aqua HUB
The CFE Hub is a an online exchange for PICFI’s CFEs and Aquaculture ventures to find handy resources, learn about each other to facilitate collaboration, and to exchange licenses.
On this about page you can find more information about the PICFI program, the Business Development Team, the PICFI Program Management Committee (BDMC), and the Application Review Committee (ARC).
PICFI PROGRAM
The Pacific Integrated Commercial Fisheries Initiative (PICFI) was launched in 2007 to support eligible First Nations to develop commercial fisheries and increase access to commercial fishing in the Pacific Region. PICFI facilitates the development of self-sustaining operations, creates capacity-building opportunities, generates Indigenous employment, and increases long-term Indigenous participation in commercial fisheries and diversification related activities.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TEAM
The Business Development Team consists of 5 advisors. They assist the CFEs and Aquaculture ventures with all PICFI related applications, training opportunities, and more.
Independent Third Party Evaluator Team
The ITPE reviews funding applications and makes recommendations to the Application Review Committee. The main responsibility of the team is to provide timely and cost-effective assistance to the BDMC, Application Review Committee (ARC) and DFO personnel by carrying out an independent, full check, analysis and report on the completeness, practicality and relevance of applications for PICFI and related projects for support.
Business Development Management Committee (BDMC)
BCMC is the governing body of the PICFI Program. The program is accountable to BDMC and guided by its direction. PICFI and the First Nations Fisheries Council (FNFC) co-chair the committee.

Application Review Committee (ARC)
The ARC reviews applications and the ITPE’s findings for major projects in order to make recommendations to the PICFI Program Authority. ARC is comprised of representatives from First Nations organizations. DFO is an ex-officio participant.
